Preferences

Features that are can be customised are found under "Options... " in the "Tools" menu. These include:

	Spelling
	Preference Schemes
	View

The "Option..." window contains four buttons:

	"Save"	Saves the preferences so they will stay set even after you restart of AbiWord.>
	"Defaults"	Restores the default options of AbiWord.
	"OK"	Validates the changes; but these changes will not be saved. You will have to reset them when you next restart Abiword.
	"Cancel"	Does not implement any modifications.

The Spelling section of the Options Window

Spelling:

There are several options which can be checked or unchecked:

	Check spelling as you type	-- Automatic spell checking
	Ignore words in UPPERCASE	-- Does not spell check words in uppercase
	Ignore words with numbers	-- Does not spell check words containing numbers

The other options are grayed out as they have not yet been implemented in AbiWord. This applies to the Dictionnary, Edit and Reset options.

Preference Schemes:

Check the "Automatically save this Scheme" to save your AbiWord preferences. If, for example, you have hidden the ruler, it will remain hidden when you next start AbiWord.

The " Current Scheme Preferences " field makes it possible to define several types of preferences. The other preferences are grayed out as they have not yet been implemented in AbiWord.

The Preference Schemes of the Options window

View:

View has two sections, "Show/Hide..." and "View...", with lists of options that can be checked or unchecked.

	Ruler	-- Displays or hides the ruler
	Cursor blink	-- Makes the cursor blink or stay constant.

The "units" field selects the measuring unit used for the ruler. Click on the small arrow on the right of the "units" field to select inches, centimetres, pixels or picos.

The other preferences are grayed out as they have not yet been implemented in AbiWord.
